Logitech G Hub Mobile
The Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum Gaming Mouse is a top-rated wired/wireless gaming mouse that’s perfectly symmetrical for right-handed or left-handed use. The G900 is a great choice whether you’re looking for a professional-grade wireless gaming mouse for your next competition, or if you are a more casual gamer (like me) seeking a top-quality gaming mouse to improve your overall gaming experience. I’ve burned through at least a dozen mice over the years – some great and some pretty crappy by any standard. The G900 is by far the best quality mouse I have owned and it’s an excellent fit for my left-handed gaming setup. After using this mouse for a considerable amount of time, I’ve only found one detail that could use some improvement. This deals with documentation and nothing concerning the mouse itself. I’ll cover documentation at the end of this post.
Before I explain why I chose the G900 and its features, I’d like to pay some respect where it’s due. I was using a Razer Abyssus gaming mouse up until I purchased the G900. I can attest to the fact that the Razer Abyssus is the most reliable, and arguably the best symmetrical entry-level wired gaming mouse I have ever owned. My Razer Abyssus runs as well today as it did when I purchased it nearly seven years ago. That’s an outstanding lifespan for a gaming mouse to say the least. I would recommend the Razer Abyssus to anyone (right-handed or left-handed) looking for a simple, reliable, 3-button wired gaming mouse that has proven to be highly durable. Since I purchased mine back in 2012, the Abyssus has seen a series of refinements and has cool new features that don’t exist in the older models. Here is a link to the Razer Abyssus Essential on Amazon in case you want to check it out. As you read ahead, I will reference my old Razor Abyssus when talking about the G900 in the context of transitioning from one mouse to the other – old to new, entry-level to professional-grade, wired to wireless, Fred Flintstone to Seal Team 6. I realize this contrast couldn’t be more dramatic. The comparison is unfair but can’t be avoided. I’m relating things from my perspective as a real consumer making an upgrade from the only great mouse I have ever known (the Abyssus) to the G900.
Why I made the switch to the G900 Wired/Wireless Gaming Mouse
Test with the mobile cable. Reconnect the mic. Use the adapter on a different USB port. Is the headset detected by G HUB? If not showing on G HUB, complete: Device does not appear in G HUB. Is the mic working without G HUB? Re-check if the 3.5mm cable is securely attached to the headset.
- Logitech G HUB Software lets you customize Logitech G gaming mice, keyboards, headsets, speakers, and other devices. Bug Fixes - Fixed issues where the Screen Sampler Lighting Effect may stop working correctly - Fixed Discord authorization issues - Fixed an issue where the Hardware Noise Reduction for headsets may not stay enabled.
- The App on my mobile Device is not able to switch to my sensordata. Could the new Logitech G-Hub Software which came with my G910 maybe an Issue? There is also a ARX Setting, but i disabled it. I also tried it, when i disable ARX on the Logitech Gaming Software and enable it on the G-Hub Software.

I retired the Abyssus and opted for the G900 simply because the time was right for an upgrade. Sticking with a nearly decade-old mouse would surely mean missing out on improved technologies that offer better tracking accuracy, improved consistency in responsiveness, and tons of new features. These days, I find myself trending toward survival and fast-paced FPS games like Escape from Tarkov, Counter-Strike, PUBG, Battlefield, and Rust. Professional-grade peripherals can provide a competitive edge in games like these once you grow into them. Case in point, I’ve seen a significant improvement in my gameplay since I’ve adapted to my new mechanical gaming keyboard for left-handed gaming. I wanted a modern gaming mouse that was equal to or better than what my competition is currently using. As you read on, I’ll detail some of the key features that made the G900 an attractive choice. For reference, here is the Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum model that I ordered on Amazon.
What’s included – Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum Wired/Wireless Gaming Mouse
First impressions matter to me. I really like Logitech’s attention to detail in the packaging of the G900. The box includes the Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum Gaming Mouse, wired/wireless cable/dongle for USB, side button caps and side button cover in an accessory case, and a simple visual setup manual. Below are a couple of photos I took of the unboxing of the Logitech G900.
The top 5 features that attracted me to the G900 wired/wireless gaming mouse
You will have your own criteria for choosing your next gaming mouse. The G900 happened to meet my unique specifications. Here I’ve listed some of the top reasons why I chose the G900. There are many more features and detailed specifications that I am not listing in my top 5. You can get more details on Logitech’s website.
1.I needed a perfectly symmetrical mouse similar to my Razer Abyssus that I’ve grown accustomed to. The G900 is perfectly symmetrical and has an overall design that I found appealing. The G900’s profile is slightly more pronounced than the Abyssus, but it’s a subtle change I can live with. Some manufacturers claim their products to be “ambidextrous” or “ergonomically designed for left-handed gaming” but just looking at the pictures I can tell they aren’t truly symmetrical. The shape of the mouse is important in my particular situation because I’m constantly switching the mouse from a left-handed gaming configuration to a right-handed configuration when I work. For this reason, I like a mouse that functions and feels exactly the same in each hand. And, this can’t happen without the ability to easily switch out the side buttons (button caps and button covers) because there’s nothing more annoying than accidentally hitting side buttons I’m not using. The G900 is designed specifically for quick button cap and button cover changes. I am now able to make the switch in seconds. Through the use of tiny magnets instead of snapping mechanisms, Logitech has figured out the best way to make this happen. The video shows the process of switching the buttons from a right-handed to a left-handed setup. A .60mm guitar pick speeds up the process even more and makes it easier if you don’t have fingernails.
The G900 weighs in at 107g which is heavier than the Abyssus. Weight wasn’t something I considered when I set out to find my next gaming mouse, but so far the weight difference isn’t an issue. I think it just may take a little time to get used to.
2.The G900 uses an optical sensor with pixel-precise performance. Most modern optical and laser mice have the capability of hitting adequate/responsive DPI (dots per linear inch) levels for just about any game. Since my Abyssus uses an optical sensor I felt better knowing the G900 is also an optical mouse. The G900 comes with the PMW3366 optical sensor which is widely regarded as the best gaming mouse sensor on the market. The G900 is adjustable on-the-fly up to 12,000 DPI while delivering exceptional tracking accuracy with consistent responsiveness at any speed. The G900 also has a report rate of 1000 Hz (1ms) both wired and wireless which is excellent. It’s nice to know that I have customizable DPI levels with the G900 even though I can’t imagine ever needing 12,000. The classes I play in most FPS games aren’t really compatible with really high DPI settings. This is because high DPI takes away from weapon accuracy in regard to steady sight aiming. I don’t like missing crucial shots. Every situation is different though, so it’s nice to know I have the ability to switch DPI per game, per class, per situation, per the surface I’m playing on, etc. using the DPI up and down buttons which I can set to any level inside the G HUB software.
Here are the DPI up and down buttons. LEDs appear momentarily as an indicator that you have cycled up or down through your preset DPI settings. In the example, 3 LEDs indicate DPI has been cycled up 3 levels. It’s easy to understand once you try it out.
DPI speeds are set by choosing up to five customized levels in G HUB which you can set at any number between 50 and 12,000 (Note: online documentation reads 200-12,000 – not sure why). Here, 3500 is underlined which indicates the current DPI being used by the mouse. G HUB will dynamically show your current DPI in real time as you cycle through the DPI buttons on the mouse. G HUB is a really great piece of software.
3.I wanted more buttons, but nothing obtrusive. The G900 has 11 programmable buttons (12 total buttons). I have added the 12th button to the image below which I have labeled “Hyperfast Scroll” in green. This button toggles between a customary scroll wheel and hyperfast scroll mode.
4.My wireless fears – a leap of faith but with a safety rope attached. I felt assured when I bought this mouse knowing I could use this mouse wired or wirelessly. This is important because my only experience has been with wired mice over the years. After a few hundred hours of wireless gaming with the G900, I can’t believe what I’ve been missing. I can tell you definitively, wireless gameplay feels as responsive as wired play. There is absolutely no discernible difference. The battery offers up to 32 hours of life, and once the battery gets low I don’t have to stop playing. I can just plug it into the USB port and keep going while it’s charging – no docking station or inconveniences.
Charge while you play. Showing the battery level in G HUB. The G900 provides wireless use for up to 32 hours.
5.I hate to admit this, but I wanted a mouse that would match my red LED keyboard. I’m not into lighting effects. In fact, I turn the lights off most of the time. But, once in a while, it’s kind of cool to admire or show-off your setup with the LEDs on. The G900 has 16.8 million color options and various cool effects. One effect that I particularly like is the Screen Sampler. Inside the G HUB software, you can manually set regions of your monitor to translate the colors you are seeing on your monitor to your mouse’s LEDs. For example, if you are browsing the Internet for purple flowers to give to your mom on Mother’s Day, the G900’s LEDs will glow a matching purple as you browse various photos of purple flowers. That’s pretty useless but damn cool in my opinion. It’s important to note that none of the photographs included along with this review can properly show the vibrancy of the G900’s LEDs. You would need some kind of out of this world photography to make that happen. In fact, I had to doctor the image below in Photoshop to even give some slight semblance of how great the G900’s LEDs look in real life. The colors are really amazing.
A bumpy start – documentation for the G900 needs some work
I appreciate manuals that actually have words. Maybe it’s my age and what I’ve grown accustomed to over the years. Or, maybe since this is considered a “professional-grade mouse” I’m not part of Logitech’s target customer base. If Logitech already expects me to be pretty knowledgable about wireless mice in general, then okay cool. I understand maybe Logitech doesn’t want to offend elite gamers with an abundance of information considered as common knowledge in their circles. But, I seriously doubt I’m the only person making the jump from wired to wireless. Setting that aside, my main issue is the absence of documentation related to mouse drivers and software. There is no mention of this anywhere. Here is what the visual setup manual shows at the end:
That’s the international symbol for download stuff here. I get that. It’s what happened next that I found annoying. Once I navigated to that URL and selected Downloads, the first link is for the latest version of Logitech Gaming Software. It reads, “Lets you customize functions on Logitech gaming mice, keyboards, headsets, and select wheels.” So I downloaded this software. Unfortunately, it didn’t recognize the G900. I figured maybe this was a driver related issue. A search for G900 drivers yielded no results. So I called Logitech Technical Support and explained the problem. At first, they had me remove my old mouse drivers, restart my computer, and try again. After this didn’t solve anything, technical support put me on hold. I was then advised to uninstall Logitech Gaming Software because it’s no longer supported. I was told to install G HUB software instead. The Logitech G HUB is found if you scroll down past several versions of Logitech Gaming Software. This fixed everything. So why isn’t G HUB mentioned in the documentation and why isn’t G HUB the very first download link on the website?
My rating of the Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum – EXCELLENT!
I genuinely love this mouse. The Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum comes with all the features I need in a gaming mouse and beyond – perfectly symmetrical, quick-change side buttons and button cap, DPI beyond expectations, numerous programmable buttons, uninterrupted wired/wireless gaming, stunning LED, and G HUB (once I found it). I only wish I could talk about the lifespan of the G900. If it lasts for half as long as my Abyssus then I’ll be more than happy. I highly recommend The Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum whether you are a right-handed or left-handed gamer.
Update 07/31/2019: I am now using the G900 as my backup gaming mouse because I’m still struggling with the side buttons. This issue goes way back and has nothing to do with the G900. I’ve just never been completely comfortable pressing the side buttons. So I’m currently training with the Logitech G300s which is a top button mouse. Here is my review of the G300s gaming mouse.
